ABOUT ME My name is John Watkis. I'm a speechwriter and public speaking coach based in Orlando, Florida. I specialize in crafting persuasive, motivational and inspirational speeches for industry leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors. My podcast and blog — both named "Successful Speeches" — are listened to and read by executives, speechwriters, communications professionals, preachers, teachers, authors, motivational speakers and entrepreneurs in over 50 countries. For more than two decades, I have been writing speeches and delivering training to a variety of organizations worldwide. My practical, first-hand experience has taught me what works — and doesn't work— when creating a speech. I use that experience to craft speeches you can deliver with confidence, clarity and conviction. I'm the author of Don't Bite the Hand that Feeds You - How to avoid mistakes that cost you customers and credibility. I also wrote and narrated the Nightingale-Conant training video, Management Skills for New Managers and Supervisors. I've been a guest on BBC’s, “World Have Your Say”, CBC: Venture, and various other television programs. I have also been quoted in The Globe & Mail and The Toronto Star. Many of my articles have appeared in the Ragan Communications Newsletter. In addition to my business experience, I was also the first Canadian-born actor to play the role of Mufasa in the Disney musical production, The Lion King. A partial list of my clients includes, BMW Canada, Q9 Networks, Bank of Montreal, Moneris Solutions, Hills Pet Nutrition, KFC, TGI Fridays and the Canadian Federal Government. |
